New from JK5

My friend, Joseph Ari Aloi aka JK5, has a new site up. It’s the first site of his to begin to get close to showing how prolific this guy is. He’s literally saved every drawing, sketch, painting etc. he’s made since he was six. You can see much of life-work detailed in his book Subconsciothesaurusnex.  Anyway, tons and tons and tons of work up on his site: drawings, tattoos, products, paintings, etc. etc. Congrats Ari! Check out his site.

At Home with Mike Mills

I’d definitely put Mike Mills near the top of my design heroes. I love his graphic design, his music videos, his documentaries, his photos etc. On the Selby site they have a nice visit to his home and it exudes that kind of lighting, wild overgrown foliage and openness that I think of when I think of living in LA. With only 15 days left in my tenure in NYC it’s exciting to look at these pics and know that a new life in California is only weeks away.

Poster: New Year’s Eve at Franklin Park

FP_NYE_11x17_web

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and I just finished up the poster for the New Year’s Eve bash at Franklin Park. You’ve got some leaf clusters thinking they’re fireworks up in the sky of this poster and everything else is just as it seems. Happy early New Year – is this decade really over?

Fjällräven Store NYC

flag

Coolhunting had a nice write-up on the new Fjällräven Store in NYC. They’re a Swedish company that used to make explorer type clothing and goods, but now makes winter wear for the common person. I absolutely love this Swedish flag made out of what appears to be backpacks. I look forward to swinging by there this weekend.

Diver Print on Apartment Therapy

My old “Sea Wants to Take Me” aka “Diver” print made an appearance on Apartment Therapy’s Kid’s site. It happily resides in a child’s bedroom in Providence, Rhode Island which happens to be one of my favorite towns in one of my favorite states. Nice to see this one again.

When I’m 64

text

My son is beyond obsessed with The Beatles. We’ve watched the “All Together Now” video easily 500 times and now his favorite is “When I’m 64.” There is a part in the video where they count from 1 – 60 and each number is more amazing than the next. Here’s a selection below. With the video (from Yellow Submarine) at the end.
