UCLA Posters 2019

I've been desigining all the posters and promotional creative for the UCLA Department of Art since 2011. Each year, I design between 12-15 pieces of printed collateral for the school. Many of the posters are for group shows or events featuring anywhere from 10-40 students. With that in mind, they've requested that all posters be type only as to not favor one student's work over another's. I'm not a letterer or typographer, so it's a challenge to keep the designs both interesting, unique, and readable from a distance.

The above shot (mocked up lazily using graphic burger's templates) shows three posters from the series of Visiting Artist Lectures at the Hammer Museum. Each year there are 6-10 visiting lectures featuring artists and professors from around the World. I generally come up with one design for the series and then alternate the colorways throughout the year. It's always nice to look back at the end of the academic year and see how the series came together. I'm happy with how virbrant these looked in person.
